Core Files

Download Core Files Documents Here

Each year, NAUDL collaborates with leagues and contributors to create a core file set free for use by all leagues.

Welcome to the 2022 Core Files of the National Association for Urban Debate Leagues. The Core Files are designed to support students and educators who support them to better engage with the national topic. Every year, the National Federation for High Schools releases a yearly topic for students to debate. The Policy Debate resolution for 2022-2023 is as follows:

Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its security cooperation with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and cybersecurity.

About the 2022 Equitable Core Files Process

Each league makes their own decision about which core files they will use and how they will be implemented.* An idea emerged to develop core files accessible to NAUDL league partners to meet the varying needs of novice debaters across the organizational network. Ten undergraduate students served as Fellows for the 2022 White & Case NAUDL Fellows program — an interactive employment opportunity for urban debate alumni to complete projects with either NAUDL or urban debate leagues across the United States — to build the 2022 Equitable Core File. For a two-week core file intensive experience, Fellows worked together to build core files around the 2022-2023 NATO Emerging Technologies topic and to create a resource library to support the use of the equitable core file.
