Activities to bring students to debate:

HOW MIGHT WE RECRUIT STUDENTS (AND SCHOOLS) IN A VIRTUAL WORLD? 0 replies 92 views

- virtual video contest

- higher participation when the prizes were better

- types of prizes: tech prizes (Fitbit, kindle, amazon echo dot), gift cards

      - prizes that would elicit the same kind of feeling as a small trophy

     - LAMDL: swag that you can only get by hitting a certain milestone

      - ex. when you complete your first 2 rounds, you get a sticker; when you complete 10 rounds, you get a t-shirt

- in a scrimmage, you win and lose as a school

      - brings schools together and has more of a sport-like feel, intrinsic motivation

      - big schools division and newer school’s division

- looking at improv/speech games that are not super technical

        - free-form games that are not so structured or competitive

- online costume contest

- between rounds, putting students in waiting rooms and having them talk about their rounds

               - ways to build community even when we're far apart
